Computer Instructor Job Description - How You Can Contribute to Today's Education

With the surge of automation, more and more people are relying on computers to do their everyday tasks. Jobs are now created with the aid of a computer and internet connection so people could work from the comforts of their home. There is not one single business that will not require the use of computer. These facts on hand there is a great need for computer education.

You don't really need to take a college course just to learn how to use the computer. There are short courses that can teach you the basic use of computers and some certificate courses on specific computer programs. Unless you envision a real career in the field of computers then take the full 4 year college course of Computer Sciences. There are two fields of specialization - hardware and software programming. If you want to become a Computer Instructor, you should be able to define the difference of the two and be adept with either one or both fields.

Hardware refers to the parts of the computer. An instructor specializing on Computer Hardware should be able to identify the different parts of the computer - from the monitor down to the tiniest microchip. He should also be an expert in different models of computers - there are mainframes and personal computers (like desktops and notebooks). His knowledge on how to trouble shoot when the computer's mechanism bogs down is valuable. Meticulous hands, a passion for detail and a good head for computer circuitry is what will be required of you if this is the field you prefer.

Software on the other hand is the lifeblood of a computer. These are the operating systems that make a computer function. Computer literacy begins with knowing the basic programs like word processing and excel worksheets. An instructor should be able to educate you on these simple basic programs before teaching you the more complicated ones. A very logical mind combined with patience and passion for teaching is a must if you decide to be an in instructor in software programming.
